Maison et Objet 2017
13/02/2017

Some lucky members of the Andrew Henry team recently attended this year’s Maison et Objet in Paris, and naturally we were eager to hear all about the trip and to capture their thoughts on what they had seen.
Apart from being one of the biggest trade shows in the interior design calendar, this world-renowned style barometer also provides a valuable opportunity to meet with other industry professionals, to discover new brands & trend forecasts for the year ahead, as well as purchase exciting new stock for our latest interior design projects.
It is up-to-the-minute industry-led inspiration like this which helps us to keep our approach to designing interiors constantly fresh and on-trend. Here are some expert musings from some members of our Design team who were responsible for perusing the halls of Maison et Object…
John Oakley, Design Team and Operations Manager
What were your highlights of Maison et Objet 2017?
Highlights for me…having two full days to take it all in! Stepping into Hall 8 and viewing all of the luxury brands, and of course, meeting my son (who lives in Paris) for dinner!
Were there any low-lights!?
Lowlights…a member of the team losing a prized possession!
Was there a dominant colour that stood out for you?
Colours that stood out for me were Gold (it’s here to stay for a while at least), Blush, which is going nowhere fast, and Greens (especially blue-greens) which were everywhere!
Based on what you saw at the show, can you give us your top trend prediction(s) for interior design in 2017?
My design predictions include…
Foliage – Succulents and large plants are going to be very much in focus. Candle and flower combinations, as features, will dominate accessories and styling. There was a particular stand that stood out with a stunning display of flower bulbs and blossom & Amaryllis with floating candles on plinths.

What were your highlights of Maison et Objet 2017?
I was utterly inspired by this event and it was a great way to see such a plethora of incredible styles, designers and budgets – all in one place. I loved seeing the high-end designers, and Missoni Home was particularly stunning. My highlight was taking away some amazing ideas that we can translate and use for our own designs and schemes back in the studio.
Were there any low-lights!?
Extremely tired feet! However, a raspberry macaroon did cheer me up and keep me going.
Which products/designs were your favourites?
I absolutely loved the astronaut vase from Diesel Home – it’s a bit of a novelty item, but good fun!
Was there a dominant colour that stood out for you?
One of my stand-out colours was a beautifully rich, dark emerald green. Dusky burnt umber and ochre tones also caught my eye.

Gold, especially in a brushed surface, isn’t going away any time soon. The botanical theme is still high on the agenda, but with a more grown-up feel for 2017.
Carrie Bond, Interior Designer
What were your highlights of Maison et Objet 2017?
I was overwhelmed by the variety of designers and traders present at the show. There was something for every taste, from ultra-modern, Scandi, classical, and rustic, for example. Every stand made me feel like I was browsing an actual showroom, rather than an exhibition hall.
Were there any low-lights!?
Aching feet and backs! However, strolling through the beautiful and chic streets of Paris, en-route to our hotel, made up for everything.
Which products/designs were your favourites?
There were so many, but if I had to pick just a few…the pure elegance of the Eichholtz stand, and the no-limits, crazy combinations of the ‘Fancy Home Collection’, are at the top of my list.
Was there a dominant colour that stood out for you?
Green – everywhere and in every shade, which flowed through into decorative plants and helped to inject colour into neutral schemes.

Botanics fused with matte gold. I also loved the blush pinks with rose gold on show at the Cozy Living Copenhagen stand.
