With the ever increasing number of homeowners in the UK, a new-found love of our homes has emerged, where staying in is now the new going out.

Kitchens are often at the heart of the home and a growing number of us, with the latest celebrity cookbook to hand, are taking on the role of head chef as we opt for fine dining in the comfort of our own abode.

Whether your situation requires a simple dinner for two or entertaining the masses, it’s important to serve equal measures of style and function when planning the layout of the social spaces in your home.

Open plan kitchen/diners offer an immediate solution for those who strive to juggle cooking with simultaneously entertaining guests. The lack of partition walls also creates a greater sense of space, flow and light, helping hosts and guests to feel they have plenty of room in which to kickback.

For those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to accommodate a home cinema room, an abundance of comfortable seating is a must, whilst corner sofas reign supreme for maximizing space and guest numbers.

Coffee tables are also a crucial element in sociable décor schemes as they not only provide a go-to surface for drinks and nibbles, but can also serve as a key focal point when curated with favourite accessories and talking point items such as a current coffee table read.

Happy entertaining!
